Android Mobile Phone

Currently I am playing around with an Sony Ericsson Xperia pro android mobile phone.
Whenever I manage to get something running, which I struggled long time with (means, it's not yet documented across the internet, or I am to stupid to find it :-) I will share my findings here. Hope it comes to the benefit of somebody.

Install: CM9 CID Boot Animation

2013-05-30

I prefer the Cynanogenmod CID Bootanimation over the new CM10 animation.
You can get it from the following location: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701955

If you want to install the animation from the shell use the following commands

# Start Terminal
# Create backup of original file
cp -v /system/media/bootanimation.zip bootanimation-org.zip
# Remount /system writeable - adjust device name and file system when required (see "mount" output)
su root mount -t yaffs2 -o remount -rw /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system
# Install file, fix permissions
su root cp -v bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
su root chmod 0644 /system/media/bootanimation.zip
# Re-mount again read-only
su root mount -r -t yaffs2 -o remount /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system

Configure: Local Calendar

2013-03

It took me quite a while to find a solution to this: Create a local calendar on your device which is not mandatory synced to Google or any other online service.

At the end, the solution was quite simple:

Some background noise about the fact that a native local calendar creation was dropped in the google android codebase since ICS

Configure: Local Contacts

2013-03

I found it somehwere on the internet:
When you disable the "Google Contacts Sync" app in your device you can store local contacts in your phone.

To import your Thunderbird contacts give my Thunderbird CSV to VCard converter a try.
